I am a painter. I am enchanted to be a painter. I discovered painting late, after more than 20 years as a computer developer and project manager. This is a journal of my painting as it unfolds including differents stages in the painting process from sketch to finished painting. My paintings are at http://www.peterhobden.com.My facebook page is PeterHobdenPaintings
This how my dancer is now. I am more or less happy with the background and composition, but the position and expression of the head does not satisfy me.
I played around in photoshop on the photograph of my painting to see what I wanted to change.
The painting as it is now:
Detail of head now:
And how I am thinking of changing it:
head slightly more tilted forward and eyes looking down a bit more.
As someone is probably getting this as a birthday present, I re-photographed this painting from 2007. I had changed the sky since posting on my web site and I wanted her to validate the change. The colors are much truer to the original.
A painting I had put aside some months ago, not sure if I wanted to call it finished. I took a good look at it today, and it suits me fine. So it's finished.
I took a new photograph by the rules - two flood flashes at 45° - of my Two Worlds painting.
The colors are more true to the original. (click pic to see larger)
