Peter Hobden

I am a painter. I am enchanted to be a painter. I discovered painting late, after more than 20 years as a computer developer and project manager.
This is a journal of my painting as it unfolds including differents stages in the painting process from sketch to finished painting.

Another vineyard

I started this on on canvas panel. I seem to feel less inhibited when not painting on canvas. Ridiculous really, but it is so. Have to figure out how to extend the freedom. I think its a question of not painting for something, some result, but just painting...

Any way here is the under painting 40 cm x 30 cm

Vineyard comparison

This is my second attempt at the same scene. I posted the start of this earlier.
Here it is as iz stands today and iI have included the previous version for comparison.

This second version is not coming any easier than the previous one, contrary to my hopes. That's life in painting, I guess. If it came easily all the time, it probably would not have the same value.
Both are the same size on stretched canvas 80 cm x 60 cm.

Vineyard

I finally decided to restart from scratch the scene that I was trying to rehabilitate in an earlier post
here is the start. It is the same size as the previous painting 80 cm x 60 cm.

Finished Provence

Here is the final of my Provencal copse. I removed the bush which had sprouted in the middle of the painting following the comments of several people who thoght it detracted from the composition (I agreed).
